An High Resolution Optical Spectrum Analyzer & a 13 THz Bandwidth Optical Modulation Analyzer in a cost effective equipment !
Principle
APEX Technologies Optical Complex Spectrum Analyzers are high resolution Optical Spectrum Analyzers with the added benefit of measuring the optical phase as a function of frequency. With the spectral power and the spectral phase information, it is possible by inverse Fourrier transform to calculate and display time domain parameters like an Optical Modulation Analyzer.
Use it as an ultra high performances Optical Spectrum Analyzer !
With up to 500 times better spectral resolution than the best standard grating based Optical Spectrum Analyzer on the market, the integrated Optical Spectrum Analyzer can display your signal real spectrum shape and not only its envelope.
Optical Spectrum Analyzer key features:
– From 250 GHz to 20 MHz resolution
– +/- 3 pm wavelength accuracy
– Close-in dynamic range > 60 dB @ +/- 3pm
– Rectangular shape resolution filters
– 2 channels one per polarization axis
– Built in tunable laser source
– Component transmission analysis
Use it as an ultra high performances Optical Modulation Analyzer !
With up to 200 times better banwidth than the best temporal Optical Modulation on the market, the integrated Optical Modulation Analyzer can measure any actual and future Symbol rate signal with much more details than all its competitors.
Optical Modulation Analyzer key features:
– No Symbol rate limitation (13 THz Optical Bandwidth)
– Capacity of measuring any modulation format without any special software requirement
– Ultra high temporal resolution (down to 75 fs)
– Polarization diversity
– Phase, Chirp, Alpha parameter, intensity vs time ; constellation ; Phase eye diagram ; intensity eye diagram ; EVM ; BER estimation…
Now able to do PRBS patterns analysis !
APEX Technologies Optical Complex Spectrum Analyzers need a repetitive pattern to do a complex measurement and can’t do this measure with a real traffic signal. All the repetitive patterns lengths aren’t accepted by the Optical Complex Spectrum Analyzers and the accepted ones depend on the symbol rate of the signal under test (please find more information in the datasheets).
APEX Technologies launched in 2001 a first version of the Optical Complex Spectrum Anlayzer (the AP2440 series). These equipments still in APEX Technologies portfolio has evolved until there creation. Even if they can’t measure any PRBS patterns, thanks to there ultra high accuracy in the complex measurement, they can be a perfect tool for many applications as short pulsed laser characterisation for example.
Thanks to a new method for the spectral relative phase measurement , a new Optical Complex Spectrum Analyzer version (the AP2640 series) planned for September 2013 will be able to measure different PRBS patterns signals. These equipment will also have the advantage to be fast (6 nm (750 GHz) scan/s).
AP2640 series Accepted Pattern lengths
The baud rate of the signal under test divided by the pattern length must be included in the pattern frequency range (from 70 MHz to 1 GHz), here are some examples :
At 10 GBaud : you can use any pattern length between 10 and 142 bits (PRBS 2^7-1 included)
At 28 GBaud : you can use any pattern length between 28 and 400 bits (PRBS 2^7-1, 2^8-1 included)
At 40 GBaud : you can use any pattern length between 40 and 571 bits (PRBS 2^7-1, 2^8-1, 2^9-1 included)
At 100 GBaud : you can use any pattern length between 100 and 1428 bits (PRBS 2^7-1, 2^8-1, 2^9-1, 2^10-1 included)
At 400 GBaud : you can use any pattern length between 400 and 5714 bits (PRBS 2^9-1, 2^10-1, 2^11-1, 2^12-1 included)
At 1000 GBaud : you can use any pattern length between 1000 and 14285 bits (PRBS 2^10-1, 2^11-1, 2^12-1, 2^13-1 included)
The equipment has no Baud rate upper limitation and it can measure any modulation format
